3M™ Structural Bonding Tapes (SBT) 9214 is formulated for bonding hardware components to glass, such as rearview mirror components, sensor brackets and mounting pins. 3M SBT is applied as a pressure-sensitive tape and then is heat-cured to develop semi-structural strength.
Formulated for Bonding Components to Glass
3M™ Structural Bonding Tape 9214 is formulated for bonding of rear view mirror buttons, sensor brackets, and mounting pins to automotive windshield glass. This black tape is 98% solid with a thickness of 0.51 mm. It is applied as a pressure-sensitive tape, and then heat-cured to develop structural strength.
Recommended Applications
3M Structural Bonding Tape Enables Easier Application
A special advantage of 3M Structural Bonding Tapes, compared to other attachment methods, is the 2-sided pressure sensitive properties in the uncured tape that enables easy handling, positioning and application to clean glass surfaces. The cured state of the tape provides robust structural bonding performance and good resistance to environmental conditions (heat, humidity, hot water, cold, cold shock). 3M SBT provides good bond to clear glass as well as to black ceramic frits. To achieve full wet-out with the adhesive, the surfaces of the windshield and the hardware part need to have a good fit to each other.
